On Friday 16th January 2026, from 09:00 to 11:00hrs, the Directorate for STEM & VET Programmes (DSVP) organised a Teen Science Café (TSC) session at the Gozo College Victoria Middle School.
The aim of the event was to provide Year 8 students with an opportunity to meet professionals from different scientific fields, allowing them to learn about various careers and career pathways before making their subject option choices.
A Scientific Officer from the EcoGozo Directorate was invited to participate and to explain the work he carries out within the Directorate. The session was delivered to five different Year 8 classes. In addition to outlining the scientific work undertaken by him within the EcoGozo Directorate, the officer also shared the academic subjects chosen at school, sixth form, and university level that led to his current career.
The sessions were highly interactive, and students were encouraged to ask questions and engage in discussion about the role and responsibilities of a Scientific Officer.
